Little Rock, AR - The Case Management Society of America (CMSA) will host its 15th Annual Conference & Expo in Orlando, FL, at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center, June 21-25, 2005. It is anticipated that over 2,000 healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds, including rehabilitation, insurance, social work, behavioral health, care coordination, disease management, health navigation and coaching, utilization management, discharge planning, and case management will converge on Orlando for the five-day program. Core competency areas of case management, cutting-edge clinical issues, legal updates, and much more will be highlighted.
The theme of ORLANDO 2005,
"Past Success — Future Significance: A Strategic Forecast for Quality Healthcare," reflects the pride case managers hold for their profession's past and the anticipation about the future of case management in an ever-challenging healthcare environment. It also mirrors the most important purpose of the conference — to provide case management professionals with the tools and skills they need to effectively manage their healthcare role.
Keynotes this year are Patrick Lencioni speaking on "Extraordinary Leadership in a Fragmented Healthcare System;" Joseph A. Procaccino, Jr., JD, MFS, discussing "Legal & Ethical Dilemmas in Professional Healthcare Practice;" "Self Deception: Learning to Open Your Eyes and See Others;" presented by Bruce A. Berger, PhD, RPh; and Eric Wahl presenting on "The Art of Vision in Healthcare."
Featuring over 20 sponsored symposium on core clinical areas, 30 cutting-edge breakout sessions, 12 poster presentations, and four general sessions, CMSA's Conference is raising the bar toward developing a powerful synergy that promises to promote professional growth, enhance critical thinking skills, augment evidence-based research, and create stronger patient advocacy skills in the role of improving healthcare quality. CMSA's Expo 2005 will also give attendees the chance to visit approximately 250 resource providers to help them explore increasing efficiency and effectiveness, as well as give them the opportunity to earn additional CEs.
This year's Conference & Expo also highlights CMSA's 15-year history. Sherry Aliotta, CMSA's 2004-05 President states that, "CMSA helped to formally bring the case management industry into existence, oversaw the development of the
Standards of Practice for Case Management and an Ethical Statement and Health Policy Principles, as well as most recently assisted in the formalization of evidence-based outcomes. For CMSA, 2005 marks a 15-year history worthy of an anniversary celebration!"
