CMSNE 2022 ANNUAL CONFERENCE
ADAPTING TO THE EVERCHANGING PANORAMA OF HEALTHCARE:
LESSONS LEARNED & MOVING FORWARD
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 AND TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2022
SOUTHBRIDGE CONVENTION CENTER, SOUTHBRIDGE, MA

Overall Conference Purpose Statement

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic the “panorama” or perspective of healthcare across the world no longer has an extensive, unbroken or unobstructed view. The events of the past 2 years have forever changed healthcare, not only for case managers but the individuals we serve. Providers have had to re-invent/revise how they provide care; telehealth has become the new norm and the impact of this change has significant ramifications. Staffing shortages have challenged us all while isolation, stress and domestic violence have increased. Ethical decision making for those with cultural differences or diminished capacity remain problematic.

Overall Conference Learning Objectives

* Discuss the impact Covid-19 pandemic has had on how services are provided such as Long-Term Care, Hospice/Palliative Care, Paramedicine, as well as behavioral health interventions for our military & their families.
* List the challenges associated with ethical decision making for patients with cultural difference or those lacking capacity.
* Identify how Domestic Violence risk factors have increased/evolved since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
* Identify how stress can diminish productivity and learn techniques that can be applied to improve one’s overall health and resilience.
* Explore the medical and mental health perspectives of care and services for patients with Autism Spectrum diagnoses, with particular attention to how virtual care has impacted and enhanced the care they receive.

Are you exhausted, overwhelmed and agitated – and you haven’t even left for work yet? Are you so tuckered out that you wish that your cubicle came with turn down service and a wake-up call? If you’ve been multi-tasking so much that professional plate-spinners would be jealous, well crash and burn no more! Work-related burnout is one of the major causes of absenteeism in the workplace. As we have inherited increasing responsibilities in life, it is more important than ever to pace oneself to maintain health, vitality and life balance. Discover how to banish burnout, recharge, and enhance your health and resilience.
De-Stress and Get Motivated
It’s important to learn how to take your work seriously while taking yourself more lightly since today’s workplace challenges demand high performance of employees. Studies show that motivation and productivity improve when stress management techniques are applied consistently. Stress is the body’s response to any demand made upon it. These demands can be positive, negative, or neutral, depending on how they are interpreted. Learn practical suggestions to handling work-related pressures in an effective, productive and upbeat manner. When life is a mess, remember not to stress!

CMSA National: Call for Presentations – Share Your Passion, Share Your Experience @ Virtual Event
Sep 27 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Case managers are advocates, leaders, influencers, problem-solvers, educators, and more! In every work setting and within healthcare in general, there is a common challenge; how to best meet our clients' needs in an industry that is continually evolving. Legislative and regulatory changes trickle down and lead to more change at the employer level. Initiatives to improve our practice, reinforce our value and protect our profession will ultimately lead to increased recognition that case management is the true health care reform.

Case managers solve problems and affect change, but we are unaware of the essential work many of our colleagues are doing. If you are interested in sharing your professional successes with your peers but are hesitant to submit a proposal to present, this webinar is for you! Interact with a panel of case managers who will demystify the application and guide you to the submission of a proposal that will make everyone sit up and notice.

Objectives

* Identify conference goals and requirements for a proposal submission.
* Distinguish between a proposal that is selected and a proposal that is not.
* Apply the guidance provided by the expert panel to successfully submit a proposal that will be considered.

Lisa Parker-Williams, DNP, MBA, RN, CCM

National Case Management Week is October 9-15, 2022. It’s a time to celebrate YOU, our field, and the progress we have made together. Over the past two years, case managers across all settings have been challenged to step up in ways we never imagined and bridged gaps we never thought we could.
