And why do case managers need to consider being great? Doesn’t a performance review with a superior score mean greatness? Please don’t misunderstand; being a good case manager is not negative. Becoming a great case manager means reaching your full potential and engaging in continuous improvement.  \nA G2G journey needs attention\, support\, and constant evaluation. Somewhat like a garden. Start small like a seedling. As you sprout\, with leaves\, buds and stems reaching for the sun while receiving the right amount of water and nutrients. Doing what you do best produces valuable\, sustainable results equal to colorful flowers in my garden metaphor. Yes\, becoming great and good is challenging but necessary. Our patients/clients\, families and communities need more than good from us. American healthcare is fractured and complicated; medical language is confusing and our reimbursement methods are a mystery. We have to be good and great case managers!  \nThis interactive session explores how case managers can evolve from good to great. Practical tips and strategies will be reviewed and applied for your G2G journey.  \nOBJECTIVES:  \n\nDefine a good and great case manager. \nIdentify internal and external elements that influence the evolution of a great case manager. \nIntegrate three key goals into your professional case management G2G evolution. \n\n  \nPRESENTER BIO:   \nElaine Bruner\, MSN\, RN\, CMGT-BC\, FCM\, is an experienced nurse\, case manager\, and educator. Elaine was awarded the CMSA Award of Service Excellence in 2008. She embraces her educator role\, authoring manuscripts\, offering national and regional continuing education presentations\, and coaching case managers to certification success. She currently serves on the Editorial Board of CMSAToday. Elaine has served on the CMSA Military/Veteran/DoD/DHA (MVD) Planning Committee since 2021 and became Co-Chair in 2024. In 2025\, Elaine joined the CMSA Board of Directors and was honored to be inducted as a CMSA Fellow in Case Management.
