SUMMARY:CMSA Southeast Coalition (1 CE) - Is ISNP a Four-Letter Word?
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n  \nHosted By: CMSA Atlanta \nInstitutional Special Needs Plans (I-SNPs) represent a targeted and increasingly vital component of Medicare Advantage\, specifically structured to support individuals who reside in long-term care facilities for 90 days or longer. These plans are designed to address the unique clinical\, social\, and functional needs of a medically complex and often underserved population. With the rise in value-based payment models and the ongoing transformation of eldercare delivery\, I-SNPs are becoming a strategic pathway to deliver coordinated\, cost-effective\, and person-centered care. \nThis session provides an exploration of I-SNPs from conceptual foundation to practical implementation. Attendees will examine eligibility criteria\, enrollment considerations\, and the various models of care delivery that make I-SNPs distinct from traditional Medicare and other managed care plans. The presentation will also dissect the business case for I-SNPs in skilled nursing and assisted living environments\, including their potential to reduce avoidable hospitalizations\, manage chronic conditions more effectively\, and improve quality metrics that impact reimbursement. \n

SUMMARY:CMSA National (1 CE) - Technology Empowered Team Based Utilization Review
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n  \nHospital utilization review is a subspecialty that straddles both case management and revenue cycle. Historically the function has been managed with variable application of processes and consistency. This presentation is focused on a technology enabled framework to reduce fragmentation and variation in work product output while using machine based human assistance to augment productivity and accuracy. It will include a detailed model of a team-based approach to optimize patient account activities related to level of care determination\, regulatory compliance\, payer correspondence\, authorization capture\, physician advisor integration\, interdepartmental communication\, and payment recovery methods. The purpose of this presentation will be to share the structure for learning and application. \nThe framework has been implemented and tested to prove above average outcomes. Positive results for status determination turnaround times\, level of care bed mix\, denial rates\, overall revenue recovery\, and appeal overturn success metrics will be shared to reflect the benefit of this model use. Subjective benefits related to appropriate distribution of staff\, working at the top of license\, patient focused advantages\, and ease of collaboration will be offered as well. \nWith the current environment of hospital reimbursement evolving to reduce cost utilization review teams need strategies to keep up with the times. Advanced and integrated technology with a team approach application has proven to outpace these developing changes.

SUMMARY:CMSA Case Management Boot Camp
DESCRIPTION:CMSA Case Management Boot Camp\nSeptember 24-26\, 2025\nRegister Here!\nCase Management is a growing health care profession\, with a presence in every health delivery setting. Professionals moving to case management positions may or may not have access to adequate orientation and training. They often ‘learn on the job’ and are not exposed to knowledge and skills that advance the practice of case management. \nCMSA is filling this gap with an in-person CM Bootcamp offering for case managers looking to build their skills and experience. The term ‘boot camp’ originated from the military’s requirement for intensive\, short-term training. CMSA’s boot camp will provide an immersive and focused opportunity to grow and enhance the novice case manager’s skills through a three-part structure. If you have been a case manager for five years or less\, are looking to change your area of practice\, or advance your professional growth\, this course is for you! \nHere’s a road map of the CMSA CM Boot Camp journey: \nYour Professional Footprint:  Here\, participants will learn what professionalism entails and how the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics of case management defines the work. Deep dives into client/patient interactions\, communication styles and motivational interviewing allow participants to practice using real-life situations and use the support of the class to learn and hone their skills. \nRegulations and Legislation:  Next\, case managers will dig in to the regulatory and legislative mandates that affect the work of case management. Key focus areas include the CARES ACT\, regulatory bodies\, methods for reimbursement\, workers’ compensation case management\, and key understanding of VA\, military\, and DoD approaches. \nCase Management Process and Practice:  The program finishes with a complete walk through of the case management process\, identifying and practicing areas of key importance such as adherence\, interdisciplinary roles\, transition of care plans\, and more. Here\, learners will be exposed to new and emerging trends and enhance their experience through comprehensive case studies and activities. \nA participant’s guide will be available to support learning and retention and each cohort will become another avenue for mentorship and resources to further expand the learning well beyond the program. \nCMSA is committed to elevating the professional practice of case management\, supporting case managers for success\, and encouraging professionals to consider case management as their profession. The CMSA CM Boot Camp experience will help deliver on all three. \nObjectives: \n\nDescribe ethical practices expected of all case managers.\nIdentify the various forms of health care reimbursement and requirements for coordination of benefits.\nDifferentiate the various levels of care and reimbursement for those who currently or who have served in the military.\nList the multiple practice settings available for case managers and distinguish the skill sets required for those settings.\nSummarize the techniques required for impactful and effective communication with patients and interdisciplinary partners.\nAnalyze the case management process for practice improvement.\n\nThis course consists of both self-study and in-person training. \nSelf-Study Activities - 1 hour\nIn-Person Workshop - 2 1/2 Day Event\, Sept. 24-26\, 2025\nCE Credits - 19.5 CE's for CCM\, RN\, SW\nPRESENTERS:\nRaine Arndt-Couch\, DSW\, JD\, LCSW\, CCM\nRebecca Perez\, MSN\, RN\, CCM\, FCM \nCourse Tuition:\nMembers:  $600\nNon-Members:  $800 \nDates: Sept. 24-26\, 2025 \nSpace is limited. \nRegistration Deadline: Sept 15\, 2025 \nCMSA Boot Camp will be held at the CMSA/PMG offices: 5034A Thoroughbred Lane Brentwood\, TN \nThe following hotels are located nearby: \n\nMarriott Nashville Bentwood; 103 East Park Dr. Brentwood\, TN 37027 (Across the street from CMSA/PMG); Phone: 844-631-0595.\nAC Hotel Brentwood; 5007 Maryland Way Brentwood\, TN 37027 (.36 miles from CMSA/PMG); Phone: 615-370-9865.\n\nNo room blocks or reduced rates available. \nDon't know any other attendees? SUMMARY:CMSA National (1 CE) - Hospital at Home Programs: Post-Pandemic
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n  \nHospital at home is not a new medium of acute care\, however during the pandemic\, it became more mainstream to help alleviate capacity struggles. In 2020\, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) initiated a waiver called Acute Hospital Care at Home (AHCAH) under section 1135. This waiver allowed hospital systems to offer acute inpatient care to patients in their own homes with greater flexibility. This waiver is set to expire soon and many healthcare organizations are hesitant to continue their hospital at home programs without its support. \nThis presentation will provide a detailed description of the pending legislation as well as a review of Hospital at Home readmission rates\, mortality rates\, and reimbursement. \n\nDescribe the pending legislation for continuation of the AHCAH waiver.\nCompare the readmission and mortality rates of hospital at-home patients with brick-and-mortar patients.\nExplain the reimbursement and cost rates of hospital at-home program vs brick-and-mortar.\n\n

SUMMARY:CMSA Southeast Education Coalition (1 CE) - Building Empathy in Healthcare: What My Patients and Families Have Taught Me
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n  \nHosted by Case Management Society Chapter of Memphis Midsouth \nEmpathy is at the heart of what it means to be human. It’s a foundation for acting ethically\, for good relationships of many kinds\, for loving well\, and for professional success. Studies show that nurturing a more empathic relationship can lead to better outcomes for patients\, fewer disputes with healthcare providers\, and higher reimbursements due to greater patient satisfaction. On a more day-to-day basis\, it also makes caring for patients a more rewarding experience. Join your peers for an interesting discussion that will provide information you can implement into your practice regardless of your setting. \nLearning Objectives: \n· Participants will be able to define Empathy Care and give direct life examples on how they have or have not been able to apply it in their patient/family care. \n· Participants will be able to relay case study examples of how empathy and/or the lack of empathy affected patients’ responsiveness to treatment and patient satisfaction. \n· Participants will be able to discuss and apply empathy concepts\, including dignity\, objectivity\, and integrity\, to the 8 principles of the Code of Professional Conduct for Case Managers. \nCE Credits: 1 hour RN\, CCM\, and SW credit \n

SUMMARY:All Florida Case Management Network (2 CEs) - Stop Domestic Violence
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n  \n\n\nMembers of CMSA Free \nNon-Members: $25.00 Questions or trouble registering email Nadine Carter at ncarter3345@outlook.com \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOverview: Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner. Domestic violence can be physical\, sexual\, emotional\, economic\, psychological\, or technological actions or threats or other patterns of coercive behavior that influence another person within an intimate partner relationship. This includes any behavior that intimidate\, manipulate\, humiliate\, isolate\, frighten\, terrorize\, coerce\, threaten\, blame\, hurt\, injure\, or wound someone. \nStatistics – The “Why” as to the importance on Domestic Violence as a formal educational course \n\nIt is estimated more than 10M adults experience domestic violence annually in the United States.\nThe most current national studies on domestic violence suggest that from 22 to 25% of all women will experience domestic violence at some point during their lives.\nIt is estimated that one in three women and one in four men have been physically abused by an intimate partner. On a typical day\, national hotlines receive over 20\,000 calls. An estimated 15.5M children are witness to domestic violence every year.\nIt appears domestic violence has increased over the past few years following the Covid pandemic.\n\nJoin your colleagues for a in-depth course on Domestic Violence. This CE Course meets the requirements for the Florida Board of Nursing for Registered Nurses who need to renew their Florida license. The program covers psychological\, emotional\, physical\, work-related\, and social forms of abuse. Most important\, it covers the signs\, indicators\, stages\, and profiles\, and the intervention and resources needed for all victims.
