Alcohol and drug misuse and related disorders are major public health challenges that are taking an enormous toll on our society. Recently more than 27 million people in the United States reported that they are using illicit drugs or misusing prescription drugs\, and nearly a quarter of adults and adolescents reported binge drinking in the past month. The annual economic impact of substance misuse is estimated to be $249 billion for alcohol misuse and $193 billion for illicit drug use. DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\nThe Case Management Society of America (CMSA™) has had diversity\, equity\, inclusion\, and belonging (DEIB) and health equity incorporated into the Standards of Practice for Case Management for many years. In light of the increased emphasis on DEIB and health equity\, CMSA leadership determined it was time to amplify this focus. This presentation will identify the importance of DEIB and health equity in professional case management practice from all sectors in the healthcare industry. In addition\, the presentation will describe key terms and concepts in DEIB and health equity in order for participants to fully understand the framing of the key issues impacting professional case management practice. The presentation will focus on the seven sections of the new Standard Q: Diversity\, Equity\, Inclusion\, and Belonging (DEIB) and Health Equity.
