SUMMARY:CMSA National (1CE) - Evolving from a Good to Great (G2G) Case Manager
DESCRIPTION:Register Here! \nEvolving from a Good to Great (G2G) Case Manager \n1 hr RN\, CCM\, SW  \nMembers:  $0\nNon-Members: $40  \nABSTRACT:   \nWhat does it mean to be great and good? And why do case managers need to consider being great? Doesn’t a performance review with a superior score mean greatness? Please don’t misunderstand; being a good case manager is not negative. Becoming a great case manager means reaching your full potential and engaging in continuous improvement.  \nA G2G journey needs attention\, support\, and constant evaluation. Somewhat like a garden. Start small like a seedling. As you sprout\, with leaves\, buds and stems reaching for the sun while receiving the right amount of water and nutrients. Doing what you do best produces valuable\, sustainable results equal to colorful flowers in my garden metaphor. Yes\, becoming great and good is challenging but necessary. Our patients/clients\, families and communities need more than good from us. American healthcare is fractured and complicated; medical language is confusing and our reimbursement methods are a mystery. We have to be good and great case managers!  \nThis interactive session explores how case managers can evolve from good to great. Practical tips and strategies will be reviewed and applied for your G2G journey.  \nOBJECTIVES:  \n\nDefine a good and great case manager. \nIdentify internal and external elements that influence the evolution of a great case manager. \nIntegrate three key goals into your professional case management G2G evolution. \n\n  \nPRESENTER BIO:   \nElaine Bruner\, MSN\, RN\, CMGT-BC\, FCM\, is an experienced nurse\, case manager\, and educator. Elaine was awarded the CMSA Award of Service Excellence in 2008. She embraces her educator role\, authoring manuscripts\, offering national and regional continuing education presentations\, and coaching case managers to certification success. She currently serves on the Editorial Board of CMSAToday. Elaine has served on the CMSA Military/Veteran/DoD/DHA (MVD) Planning Committee since 2021 and became Co-Chair in 2024. In 2025\, Elaine joined the CMSA Board of Directors and was honored to be inducted as a CMSA Fellow in Case Management.

SUMMARY:Case Management Boot Camp
DESCRIPTION:CMSA Case Management Boot Camp \nRegister Now \nCase Management is a growing health care profession\, with a presence in every health delivery setting. Professionals moving to case management positions may or may not have access to adequate orientation and training. They often ‘learn on the job’ and are not exposed to knowledge and skills that advance the practice of case management. \nCMSA is filling this gap with an in-person CM Bootcamp offering for case managers looking to build their skills and experience. The term ‘boot camp’ originated from the military’s requirement for intensive\, short-term training. CMSA’s boot camp will provide an immersive and focused opportunity to grow and enhance the novice case manager’s skills through a three-part structure. If you have been a case manager for five years or less\, are looking to change your area of practice\, or advance your professional growth\, this course is for you! \nHere’s a road map of the CMSA CM Boot Camp journey: \nYour Professional Footprint:  Here\, participants will learn what professionalism entails and how the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics of case management defines the work. Deep dives into client/patient interactions\, communication styles and motivational interviewing allow participants to practice using real-life situations and use the support of the class to learn and hone their skills. \nRegulations and Legislation:  Next\, case managers will dig in to the regulatory and legislative mandates that affect the work of case management. Key focus areas include the CARES ACT\, regulatory bodies\, methods for reimbursement\, workers’ compensation case management\, and key understanding of VA\, military\, and DoD approaches. \nCase Management Process and Practice:  The program finishes with a complete walk through of the case management process\, identifying and practicing areas of key importance such as adherence\, interdisciplinary roles\, transition of care plans\, and more. Here\, learners will be exposed to new and emerging trends and enhance their experience through comprehensive case studies and activities. \nA participant’s guide will be available to support learning and retention and each cohort will become another avenue for mentorship and resources to further expand the learning well beyond the program. \nCMSA is committed to elevating the professional practice of case management\, supporting case managers for success\, and encouraging professionals to consider case management as their profession. The CMSA CM Boot Camp experience will help deliver on all three. \nObjectives: \n\nDescribe ethical practices expected of all case managers.\nIdentify the various forms of health care reimbursement and requirements for coordination of benefits.\nDifferentiate the various levels of care and reimbursement for those who currently or who have served in the military.\nList the multiple practice settings available for case managers and distinguish the skill sets required for those settings.\nSummarize the techniques required for impactful and effective communication with patients and interdisciplinary partners.\nAnalyze the case management process for practice improvement.\n\nThis course consists of both self-study and in-person training. \nSelf-Study Activities- 1 hour\nIn-Person Workshop- 2 1/2 Day Event\nCE Credits - 19.5 CE's for CCM\, RN\, SW\nPRESENTERS:\nColleen Morley\, DNP\, RN\, CCM\, CMAC\, CMCN\, CMGT BC\, ACM-RN\, IQCI\, FCM\, FAACM   \nCourse Tuition:\nMembers:  $600\nNon-Members:  $800 \nDates: September 23-25\, 2026 \nSpace is limited. \nRegistration Deadline: September 1\, 2026 \nCMSA Boot Camp will be held at the CMSA/PMG offices: 5034A Thoroughbred Lane Brentwood\, TN \nThe following hotels are located nearby: \n\nMarriott Nashville Bentwood; 103 East Park Dr. Brentwood\, TN 37027 (Across the street from CMSA/PMG); Phone: 844-631-0595.\nAC Hotel Brentwood; 5007 Maryland Way Brentwood\, TN 37027 (.36 miles from CMSA/PMG); Phone: 615-370-9865.\n\nNo room blocks or reduced rates available. \nRegister Now
