CMSA Lifetime Achievement Award

The CMSA Lifetime Achievement Award honors an individual whose professional accomplishments have made a significant and lasting impact on the field of case management, and whose life and character have earned the respect and admiration of their professional colleagues.

The CMSA Lifetime Achievement Award is the most prestigious award the organziation will bestow on its most dedicated professional. The purpose of the Award is to recognize an individual's outstanding, life-long achievement and demonstrated value over many years of practice in multiple areas within the professional practice of case management.

This is not an annual award, but is based on recommendations when received for Board review and determination. There may  not be more than one recipient per year.

At a time when case management education was still evolving, Kathleen saw what was missing—and built it. 

As Founder and CEO of PRIME Education, she created one of the first organizations dedicated to advancing the science of learning, behavior change, and interprofessional care. Her work helped redefine how education connects to real-world patient outcomes. 

Her leadership within CMSA helped shape the profession itself. As National President, contributor to the Standards of Practice, Case Management Fellow and ongoing Legacy Leader, Kathleen has helped define what excellence in case management looks like. 

A prolific author, researcher, and speaker, Kathleen has contributed extensively to the body of knowledge that guides case management today. Her work spans clinical practice, implementation science, health policy, and education, always with a focus on improving outcomes for patients and families. 

But what truly sets Kathleen apart is not only what she has accomplished - it is how she has shown up for others along the way.
