Healthcare is continuously evolving and shaping the healthcare industry. At the center of quality, efficient care is evidence-based criteria which are guidelines for clinical practice that incorporate current and validated research findings. (SOP, 2022) Professional case managers implement the latest evidence-based practice guidelines in the care of their clients, as available to the practice setting, or client population served. (SOP, 2022) Case managers support an evidence-based approach to assist their patients/clients in achieving their healthcare goals. Effective case management positively impacts the healthcare system, especially aligning with the goals of the Quintuple Aim which includes improving health outcomes, enhancing the experience of care, reducing the costs of care, improving the care team experience, and addressing social determinants of health/health equity. The CMSA Foundation established in 2008 envisioned a better future for the case management industry through a collaborative, inclusive community of healthcare professionals working together to build industry-wide solutions to case management issues. Today, the CMSA Foundation continues to impact the practice of case management by promoting research and process improvement that leads to better outcomes.

Objectives:

• Describe the background, mission, and vision of the CMSA Foundation and how the Foundation is advancing evidence-base practice in professional case management.
• Identify the value of conducting practice improvement and research projects in professional case management as it aligns to the Quintuple Aim.
• Discuss ways to engage the case management community in conducting practice improvement and research projects to advance case management practice.
