CMSA National (1 CE): Public Policy: Making an Impact Through Virtual Hill Visits

February 6 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

REGISTER HERE

Curious about how to effectively share the critical challenges facing case managers with your elected officials? Wondering what it takes to participate in Capitol Hill Days or how a virtual advocacy session unfolds?

Participating in the CMSA Virtual Hill Visits program is an effective way to impact policy on Capitol Hill. Advocating for change that will positively affect your ability to improve your patient/client outcomes is critical but can be intimidating and confusing. During the CMSA Virtual Hill Visits program, participants will meet virtually with Members of Congress and/or their health policy staff from their respective areas around the county to educate them about the importance of Case Managers and the policies that impact you the most. To be effective, it is important to understand the environment, the role of legislator verses health policy staffers, your role in policy development, and how CMSA will support your efforts.

Objectives:

  • Explain the importance and potential outcomes of advocating for the professional practice of case management
  • Identify the goals of virtual Capitol Hill visits and the impact that can be made with participation
  • Summarize the key program components and the preparation and support provided
  • Construct the best approach to share policy initiatives with elected officials
