The Military / VA / DoD / DHA (MVD) Special Interest Group is a dedicated space for case managers serving Veterans, service members, and their families to connect, collaborate, and grow.
Hosted quarterly by the MVD Planning Committee, this forum brings together professionals across the VA, military facilities, Department of Defense, and Defense Health Agency to exchange insights, share resources, and strengthen practices that drive better patient outcomes.
This is normally a CMSA Member only benefit for our case managers who are serving active service members, Veterans, and their families within the military services, DoD/DHA and Veterans Affairs.
For the month of September, CMSA membership is NOT required, and any case manager working within the military organizations, VA, DoD/DHA or contract organizations supporting these patients may join.
Designed specifically for case managers working in these settings, this is more than a networking opportunity—it’s a meaningful member benefit that supports your professional development while connecting you with peers who understand the unique challenges and impact of your work.

September is National Self-Care Awareness Month. The September SIG topic will how case managers can be aware of self-care needs while dealing with compassion fatigue and moral distress, as well as the benefits of compassion satisfaction. Through interactive discussion and peer-to-peer networking, explore the challenges of supporting military members, veterans, and their families while identifying strategies to protect your well-being, preserve your passion for service, and sustain yourself for the mission ahead.
