The Transforming Episode Accountability Model (TEAM) is a mandatory, episode-based alternative payment model (APM) from CMS that shifts reimbursement from fee-for-service to value-based bundled payments for selected surgical procedures. Start date: January 1, 2026 End date: December 31, 2030 (5-year model) Participants: Selected acute care hospitals in designated geographic areas (CBSAs), with mandatory participation for included hospitals Core Concept TEAM holds hospitals financially accountable for the total cost and quality of care across a defined surgical episode, rather than paying separately for each service.  Episode begins: Hospital admission or outpatient procedure Episode ends: 30 days post-discharge Includes: All Medicare Part A and B services related to the episode (inpatient, outpatient, physician, post-acute, etc.)

This session will examine best practices for managing catastrophic injury cases within both Workers’ Compensation and Private Concierge care models, highlighting the distinct goals, challenges, and opportunities of each approach.
