CMSA National (1 CE) – Hospital at Home Programs: Post-Pandemic

Virtual Event

REGISTER HERE   Hospital at home is not a new medium of acute care, however during the pandemic, it became more mainstream to help alleviate capacity struggles. In 2020, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) initiated a waiver called Acute Hospital Care at Home (AHCAH) under section 1135. This waiver allowed hospital systems to offer acute inpatient care to patients in their own homes with greater flexibility. This waiver is set to expire soon and many healthcare organizations are hesitant to continue their hospital at home programs without its support. This presentation will provide a detailed description of the pending legislation as well as a review of Hospital at Home readmission rates, mortality rates, and reimbursement. Describe the pending legislation for continuation of the AHCAH waiver. Compare the readmission and mortality rates of hospital at-home patients with brick-and-mortar patients. Explain the reimbursement and cost rates of hospital at-home program vs brick-and-mortar.
