Did you know August is National Wellness Month and taking small Steps can have a lasting Impact? As summer begins to wind down, August provides a natural opportunity to pause, reflect, and refocus on your health. Recognized as National Wellness Month, August encourages us to make our well-being a priority—not through drastic changes, but by embracing simple, sustainable habits that improve our quality of life.

What Is Wellness?
Wellness is much more than eating healthy or exercising regularly. It encompasses the choices we make every day that support our physical, emotional, mental, social, and even financial health. True wellness is about finding balance and creating routines that help you thrive. National Wellness Month reminds us that caring for ourselves isn't a luxury—it's essential.

Why Wellness Matters
When we consistently invest in our well-being, we often experience:
• Increased energy and productivity
• Better stress management
• Improved sleep quality
• Stronger immune function
• Enhanced mood and emotional resilience
• Better relationships with family, friends, and coworkers

The small decisions we make today can have a lasting impact on our long-term health.

Five Simple Ways to Celebrate National Wellness Month
1. Prioritize Movement – Take a daily walk, stretch between meetings, try yoga, or enjoy a bike ride. Movement is medicine.
2. Nourish Your Body – Eat more fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains, and stay hydrated.
3. Make Sleep a Priority – Aim for 7–9 hours of quality sleep each night.
4. Take Care of Your Mental Health – Practice mindfulness, journal, spend time outdoors, and connect with loved ones.
5. Schedule Preventive Care – Book annual physicals, dental cleanings, vision exams, and recommended screenings.

Wellness in the Workplace

Healthy employees create healthier workplaces. Organizations can support wellness by encouraging breaks, promoting physical activity, providing mental health resources, and fostering a culture that values work-life balance. In addition, when was the last time you took lunch away from your desk? Make time to spend even 5 minutes away from your desk or computer every few hours. Your eyesight, mental health and back will thank you.

Building Habits That Last

Lasting improvements often come from small, consistent actions. This August, focus on one healthy habit such as drinking more water, taking a 15-minute walk, practicing gratitude, preparing healthier meals, or reducing screen time.

Your Wellness Journey Starts Today

National Wellness Month isn't about perfection—it's about progress. Every positive choice is a step toward a healthier, happier life. Remember: Wellness isn't a destination—it's a journey made up of the choices we make every day.
